Facilitating STEM Activities

2. Facilitating the STEM Activity

  • Demonstrate First: Show the steps involved in the activity and explain why each step is important. This is probably best done in smaller steps throughout the session.
  • Guide, Don’t Do: Assist students as they work, but allow them to take the lead in constructing their projects.
  • Encourage Creativity: Offer flexibility in how students approach the activity, as long as they meet the session’s learning objectives.
  • Provide Positive Reinforcement: Celebrate successes and encourage perseverance when students encounter challenges.
